So our romp around the north of Italia has come to an end, and we return to the Capital (and for me, home). The evening would be spent having a surprisingly nice meal at a restaurant in the Piazza Navona. (Yes, I know, "tourist trap", but you have to do it at least once. And to be fair the meal we had was pretty good.)

This would be followed by heading to Trajan's Column to meet up with a group for a night time tour of the Colosseum. One very negative thing (well, sort of) that I recall happening was that I was relying on Google Maps to show us the way to the Column because to be honest, I didn't remember which end of the Piazza was which at the time. And Google Maps blows big, meaty chunks if you try to use it to guide you. "Head this way! No, wait, you're going the wrong way, head THAT way!" That was what prompted me to get back to basics on the 2019 trip and buy a compass. I knew where the Column was relative to the Piazza so had I had my compass with me at the time I could have just pulled it out and said "That-a-way", as I did more than once in 2019. So... yes, it was a negative experience at the time but overall it produced something positive for the next trip.
