A rather odd little sculpture in the main Canberra shopping mall. It pays homage to the sometimes-expressed view that the building of Canberra involved "a good sheep station spoiled".

The sculpture is named "Ainslie's Sheep" in honour of James Ainslie who arrived in the area in 1825 to establish a sheep station named Duntroon on behalf of a Sydney merchant named Robert Campbell. Ainslie returned to Scotland in 1835, but a suburb and a mountain (from which a number of other shots in this gallery are taken) remained named after him.

The sculpture was created by Les Kossatz in 2001 as part of the ACT Public Art Program.
