That's another thing; they made no announcement about who the team captains were for this match, and there was no indication in the match lineups either. I'm assuming that Smalling had taken command of Roma by virtue of the fact that he was wearing an armband that others weren't, but I was unable to identify any armbands on the AC Milan team.
(Edit after looking at the replay on the 7Plus streaming TV channel; yes, Smalling was our captain. The captain of AC Milan was defender Davide Calabria (#2) who only appears in 3 of my photos, or at least the ones that I've tagged and selected for the gallery. (0992, and 0999). He is in fact their regular captain. Ours, attacking midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, stayed home for this match.)
So I'm assuming that Smalling is doing something captain related with the 4 referees in blue, and the... I've no idea who the woman in red is.
I've also no idea why he was accompanied by 2 of our senior players; from left to right striker Tammy Abraham (#9) and attacking midfielder Paolo Dybala (#21). I further have no idea why Dybala appears to be throwing up. Or why the Milan team is way across the field beyond the Emirates hostesses while all of this is going on.
