If you want a shot of Assisi in a nutshell, this one comes close.

We have the old stone walls, gates and fortifications. We have a tourist shop built into the walls selling clothing souvenirs, even film cameras according to the sign over the door (no, you won't be able to read it in the reduced size image, but trust me), though I suspect that it's a sign from long ago.

It has a bus stop, since there really isn't much in the way of non-tourist shopping in Assisi. There are a couple of places which are more like old style corner shops, but I suspect that people will need to regularly go down to Santa Martia degli Angeli on the plains 4km away to go to larger shops, and it's not like there is a lot of space for cars up the hill. The bus stop has 4 luxurious plastic seats, because that road just isn't wide enough for a proper shelter. Good luck in summer or when it rains.

And, of course, there is a beautiful view over the Umbrian countryside.

This is an oversimplification of what the place is, but it's not a bad attempt.
