When you think of Paris, you automatically think of Cafés with French people sitting over some of the worst coffee in the world, and some of the best patisserie is in the world. And of course, their closely related shop type, the boulangerie.
So naturally, I had to grab a shot of such a quintessential location. How many of these people are Parisians and how many tourists I couldn't say. The woman drinking coffee outside the shop door who has earphones in, a shoulder bag and medium height heels... I'd go for a local office worker. (You may not be able to see all of those details... but I can.) The couple at the table near the door... most likely older tourists, probably not French. They're both wearing comfortable walking shoes and are clearly dressed for walking comfort rather than style. And few people tend to be tourists in their own cities. Also there are very few guys of that age who like to rock a pair of shorts, and who don't hail from a retirement village in Florida or similar.
The guy stroking his beard near the window could go either way. The Asian ladies at the far end are probably local, most likely having arrived in the distant past from France's colonial adventures. They're wearing light slip on shoes which are not the type that you would want to be walking long distances in. Also if they were tourists, I'd expect them to be part of a larger group. If you can speak English natively you can get by in Paris (albeit it isn't always a fun exercise as I can attest), but it's more of a problem if your native language has no connection at all with European ones.
In any case, here we have a boulangerie in the Boulevard Saint-Germain... and a group of people who crossed paths there on a September morning of 2019 but will probably never do so again.
