The Covid19 crisis continues. Gatherings of more than 10 people have been banned, and the only local department store that counts (Myer) will be shutting its doors after this weekend. That's a lot of jobs and a lot of income cast into the void.

There is a lifeguard tower in this shot, but yesterday was the last day that it was staffed for this season; the Surf Life Saving Association has pulled the plug on swimming season early to protect the health of its volunteers, and I blame them not one iota.

We are required to keep 4 square metres of space around us, but I think this sunrise fisherman has that covered.

The worst news to date is that the death toll in Italy yesterday was over 900. That's a jump of more than 100 over the previous worst daily toll, which was about a week ago. The worse news is that I heard a doctor in Piemonte being interviewed this morning. He said that until a week or so ago they had reasonably good stats, but that the ability to test in Italia in general and Lombardia in particular is diminishing. This meant that some people are dying without having been diagnosed. Let us see what the next week brings, and let us hope that it's better news.

In the meantime, life in (partial) lockdown goes on as best it can.
