There is a relative handful of brand names and symbols that are recognised the world over. Coca-Cola. McDonald's. Apple. Ferrari.
And... the circle and bar symbol (also known as the roundel) for the London Underground, I would suggest. Here we are looking not at a derivative of it, but at one of the real things. Yes, I know; as photographic subjects go it's pretty pedestrian, but hey, first time in London and all that.
That said... there is something unusual about some of the roundels at this station, apparently. According to You Tube raconteur of all things British railway related, Jago Hazzard, these are the only illuminated roundels on the Underground. No, I did not know that at the time either but it has not stopped me from bringing you something unique.
And one other tip from Mr. Hazzard. Pimlico is also the station for the Tate Britain, and it has a series of murals depicting some paintings that you will find in that gallery. We saw none of that because we knew none of that, nor did we get to see either Tate gallery save as a building that we walked past on our way back to the hotel from somewhere else. But if YOU, dear viewer, ever find yourself at Pimlico, you will know to look.
You're welcome.
