Well over 24 hours late thanks to the ineptitude of Qantas (I'll let that go eventually, but that time is not yet now), we finally arrive at our hotel in the central London suburb of Pimlico. This is the view out of our window.
There was an issue with the timestamps on my early shots in London; because what was supposed to be a 24-hour flight turned out to be closer to 48 hours and change, I had forgotten to reset the time on my camera until we got to (I think it was) Baker St. I was able to backtrack the times using a combination of clocks that appeared in some photos, and the file names from shots which had been taken by my tablet which auto-adjusted its time after landing. Take the filename as incorporating the correct (local) time if there is any dispute between that and the exif, though I believe that I corrected the exif manually.
Pimlico is a decent, relatively quiet and safe part of London as far as I could see, and there was a tube station just along the street to the right. The hotel was pleasant enough, though as is to be expected in London, the rooms are considerably smaller than what we're used to in Australia.
