In the absence of the arena floor you can see some of the under-stage workings of the arena. In many cases the "performers" would pass through here and be hoisted up to appear in the arena via trap-doors.
The restored part of the arena floor is at the far end. The restored seating that was seen in some of the earlier shots is to the top left.
