In pano image 20160821_015193_015195_PAN I mentioned that a small block of the seats around the arena had been restored. We see them in more detail here.

I also discussed a plan to refurbish the whole of the arena floor at a cost of about €18M, but without corresponding seating I doubt that there would be any point.

And I can't see the seating being restored to a usable state. Concepts like accessibility and health and safety weren't exactly known in Roman times so you'd have to either create steps and seating which are quite unlike the original (which would destroy the entire point of the exercise), or have a good reproduction of the original and watch the OH&S types go ape guano.

I would actually like to see a larger area restored but a full restoration? I don't see it happening. And I'm not convinced that it should.
