Away from the Duomo, things get quieter very quickly. We took a wander through the town, looking for nothing in particular and that is indeed what we found, at least down in this part of the town.
If one likes a quiet life, you could do a lot worse. Mind you, it would be pretty much impossible to afford any of these places to live anyway. As noted earlier, the small amount of space on top of the hill pretty much precludes anyone who hasn't inherited a place from buying one here. Although; a quick Google search does show a two bedroom apartment described as being in the heart of Orvieto for a "mere" €1.5 million. That's about AU$2.2 million. Mind you, it's not your standard two bedroom apartment as the term is understood in Sydney. (Roughly 2 conjoined dog kennels with a third dog kennel for the living space.) This one is currently used as a dance, theatre and yoga studio and has frescoes and elaborately decorated ceilings.
Still, that's not here.
