On the side of the town plaza to the left of the Duomo you will of course find the obligatory collection of Italian restaurants. This is the Il Giglio d’Oro, which translates as the Lily of Gold, more or less.
I only discovered that subsequently; had I known it at the time we may well have taken it as a sign. (Although poor, sad Lilly the Malchi back in Australia spells her name with two Ls. Specifically she spells it "KiLLer", but near enough.)
We wouldn't have had time anyway, sadly. That is indeed the way we had to roll. But I would certainly love to have the chance to dine here one evening; I think that would be outstanding.
