160717_071055_0427 Fit As A Fiddle And Ready To Run (Sun 17 Jul 16)

McCauley's Beach, Illawarra, NSW

I was shooting some seagulls taking a morning bath in the winter sun, when suddenly they scattered for no apparent reason. The reason became apparent a moment or two later as a Boxer lurched into view directly below the sandbank that I was standing on.

In fact despite it being an off leash beach the Boxer seemed uninterested in the seagulls and the mass take-off was simply a (probably wise, I'll admit) overreaction.

This shot was taken a few minutes later after he had gone down the beach a bit and was waiting to see whether his owner was dutifully following him. A moment later he swung around at full power and headed down the beach in a bounding run.

The choppy seas and mist of the winter's morning may suggest that it's cooler than it actually was; the temperature was probably in the low teens.

Great capture of this majestic dog. It does look very cold. V

The sea does look rather choppy... a fine shot of the dog Alan!

Plenty of space to run for a dog.
How do you like the 40-150 now you have had it a while?

Looks like a fine dog. Boxers do have a lot of vigor. Good that he can enjoy a morning run off-leash.
