One thing that you notice when you move close to the coast is the way the sky will focus is on through narrow gaps in the cloud as we see here. The result is that it gives the appearance of an alien mothership hovering above the ocean and any ships that happen to be out there.
What I've also noticed is that when I put up shots like this they tend to be largely ignored, so it's possible that others do not find this sort of sight is intriguing as I do. (Though it's likely that not a lot of people search for the expression "hole in the sky".) Nonetheless, I regard this one as being the best of the shots that I took that day looking over the coast, so it's the one that I'm putting up.
Although the scene itself was dramatic enough I decided to slap a black and white adjustment layer on to see whether I liked the effect. Then I added a sepia tone. Then I desaturated the sepia tone. Then you got the result that you see here.
