20150515_006365 Barangaroo South IX (Fri 15 May)

Barangaroo South, Darling Harbour

I've been intermittently documenting the progress of the Barangaroo development in Darling Harbour over the last couple of years. If I ever get sufficiently bored I shall put links to all of the other shots in.

In this shot which was taken back in May but is being posted in December, we see a number of markings on the inside of the tower.

Around about floor nine we see Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. This was of course a reference to 2015, so presumably those wishes have expired. Or close enough thereto.

On floor 11 we see "63 not out". This is a reference to the untimely death of a cricket player named Phil Hughes in an interstate cricket match in November 2014. He was on 63 runs when he was hit in the neck by a cricket ball and unfortunately died. It seems like only a couple of months ago we stopped hearing about this on the news. Indeed I'm surprised that the whole thing wasn't dug up again on the one year anniversary; or perhaps it was and I just wasn't listening.

On floor 17 we have the logo of PricewaterhouseCoopers who I'm sure will make themselves at home in their new luxury office buildings. I'll bite my tongue at that point.

Above that is a three leaf clover for reasons that I cannot particularly fathom. And just below floor 22 is the logo for "100 years of Anzac". This is of course a reference to the first major military operation that Australia as a nation (along with New Zealand) was involved in; the amphibious landings on the beaches of Gallipoli. A campaign of unbridled idiocy, fought bravely by those who it was inflicted upon on behalf of those stupid enough to inflict it.

As I have been less than assiduous with my PADS this year, the building looks rather different now but you wouldn't know from this gallery.

Fascinating capture. It is interesting to see how different companies/organizations are leaving their mark on the changing landscape. Very well composed wide angle shot to capture the scene. V
