20150112_2113 Oh Come On, It Was A Joke! (Mon 12 Jan)

At Home, Illawarra Via Pyrmont

Just recently one of my favourites put up a shot of a Christmas tree that was still up. I made some remark about how they weren't necessarily late taking it down since it was almost time to put up the 2015 Christmas decorations. Then I corrected myself and said that Easter had to come first.

Good Friday this year is April 3, almost 3 months from now.

Recently our Workplace Services department replaced the cafeteria contractor that we had (which served a pretty delicious range of food which, admittedly, probably contributed to me having more weight than I should) with an "exciting new contractor". If your idea of excitement is going from pretty much any type of toast that you want of a morning to two types, with a 20-something percent price increase. And the reduction in lunch menu items to a handful of choices at greater prices. Way to go, guys. I said "screw it" and started swinging past the supermarket near the office every couple of days, buying my own ingredients for breakfast and lunch, saving both kilojoules and dollars. Thankfully we do have some communal refrigerators in which to store things like margarine and juices. So I was doing my Monday morning restock this morning, get to the checkouts and see... this. Not the calendar, that's just there for context. The confectionery.

MaltEASTERS? Seriously? On, as you can see from the calendar, the 12th of January?

This blatant commercialism makes me so mad I want to bite the head off something! Heeeey, as it just happens... Heeere bunny-bunny-bunny!

I saw the Easter items in Aldi about this time as well - normal malteasers are cheaper on a per gram basis than these anyway so you pay for the marketing. ~V~

seeing this and if you factor in days until the actual event (easter) this would translate to start selling Christmas Decoations about August 18th 2015. It's all a commercialized racket now.

I saw one of them two weeks ago - I remember because I was going to buy one for the student before he went back to college- then decided there was still enough Christmas chocolate in the house.

I saw Easter candy at the grocery store on Saturday. One season blurs into the next. A great commentary.

One holiday buying spree to the next! The week before Christmas I was watching them put up Valentines Day stuff. I like all the red! Nicely composed to make your point.
