The beach is just a smidge down the road that runs from my left to my right. A park is on the far side of the road. The day is warm, but not hot. The sky is, for the most part, clear and sunny. And there is a large stack of tasty pancakes on its way.

Three years ago I saw myself as being in the middle suburbs of the city pretty much forever. And yet here I am. In Australia it is called a "Seachange", an abandonment of urban living for that in a small coastal community. (Or a "treechange", if you head for a more inland community.) The commute each day is long (and about to get a whole lot worse with timetable changes) but not that hard to deal with.

Sitting in a café like this, with the green of the Illawarra escarpment off in the distance and the sound and smell of the ocean only a short distance away... even easier to deal with. I tried to capture a bit of it in a candid shot but to say that it was less than successful would be an understatement.

A morning like this is life, defined. A shot like this is definitely not photography defined, though.
