You won't find the Do Duck In Cafe listed on any web page or telephone directory. I know, because I tried to find it when I was trying to determine where on Earth we were at the time I shot these.
("We're not lost. We're in Victoria." Actually I would have known at the time after we looked around for a bit, but I didn't take a note of it.)
This is in fact also the Princeton General Store. In the original caption (which would have to have been written in late 2011 to early 2012, based on the shot date and a comment in my PBase gallery) that the store was "recently for sale". I can't find any reference to the cafe at all outside of some old travel blogs. Google Maps' Street View is no help because the last time a Google Wagon drove down that street was, at the time of writing, 2008. Video technology in 2008 was on a par with that of a potato so you can barely even recognise the building, and it certainly tells you nothing about what's there now.
Both Google and some TripAdvisor reviews from 2021 state that the store is "permanently closed". It may have been a victim of Covid, or it may have been a combination of that and the owner having an issue with providing good service since the last couple of reviews on TripAdvisor (from 2018/2019) were... scorching.
I cannot confirm or deny since we didn't go into there, but it appeared from the outside to be everything that you'd expect a country store to be. You can't see it from this shot, but the front of the building shows the store having been established in 1922. That's a lot of history up the spout.
Instead we dropped in for a drink and a snack at the pub opposite; the "Talk Of The Town" tavern. It was a cosy little place with an open fire and the bathroom facilities that had become necessary by that point. (But there weren't many of them so thankfully the crowds (?) had yet to arrive to watch the AFL grand final that was in progress that day.)
You may just want to beware of the dog who lies outside the pub. Not because he's vicious; quite the contrary. More because we were warned about his habit of jumping into the back seats of cars which have stopped there to go for a ride. Of course reviewing this comment from 10 years into the future... the odds of Fido still being around aren't great, unfortunately.)
