The original plan was to get up really early and hit the Apostles at sunrise.
Bad plan. Bad, bad plan. First, the weather forecast was for storms with the chance of hail, meaning no good light anyway. Second, you'd have to get up ridiculously early if you start from Apollo Bay; Port Campbell is the place to do that from, and I'd like to stay there for at least one night next time.
Since that plan was scuppered we decided to have a leisurely breakfast at La Bimba restaurant, which sits on the first floor of one of the buildings facing the beach. The views aren't as great as one might have hoped (you can't see directly across to the water past some of the vegetation on the other side of the road), but there is some view and while not a cheap restaurant, it has a great atmosphere, comfortable furnishings and a generally relaxed ambience, not to mention food that's good and coffee cups which are deep. I do recommend that you try it if you're there.

Edit September 2024: Sadly, if you're reading this you're too late. Chef and restaurateur Steve Earl ran the place for 14 years up to Australia Day of 2021, then handed it over to a new business. Earl left for Geelong to make handcrafted furniture.
The space has been taken over by a self-described fine dining restaurant called The Birdhouse. (I say "self-described" because they do breakfast 5 days a week, which isn't common for fine dining places but would be essential to stay in business in a place like Apollo Bay.) It has a rating of 4.1 on Google and 4 on Trip Advisor, so the same as La Bimba had.
