"I wanna go play on the sand too, but the sign says I'm not allowed so I'm stuck here..."
Continuing with my recent tradition of bravely exploring new frontiers of my home city (hey, you try navigating your way to the northern beaches via the 72 feeder lanes of the Harbour Bridge, each one of which is guaranteed to be the wrong one for your intended destination), I found myself at Balmoral Beach today. That's the one near Mosman. Don't bother Googling it because Google Maps has the location completely borked, and doesn't even seem to realise that there is a suburb named Balmoral in Sydney. The light was rubbish (grey and overcast) so while I got a few shots that probably would have been decent had the lighting been so, there's really very little that I feel compelled to put into a gallery. This is my favourite shot from the trip, and thus gets the PAD nod.
To add icing to the cake, the 24-105 is acting up again. I was getting a lot of "shutter flutter" followed by Err-01 errors telling me that there was a communication failure between the camera and lens, and that I should clean the contacts. Which I did, and which achieved nothing. The 70-200 then again took up its role of backstopping just as it did the last time the 24-105 went south (which was, interestingly, also in Mosman at Taronga Zoo) and performed without issue meaning that whatever is wrong, it's wrong with the 24-105. Again.
CanonRumors.com is predicting a new release of the 24-70 f/2.8 early next year, this time with IS. If the AUD dollar holds up, bring it oooorrrn, I say.
