The sun had just come up and the oceanic birdlife was becoming active again. The wind was gusty enough that many of them were being held aloft in hover positions. I decided to try out my ability to track moving objects and while I had tried to frame some of these shots to capture them over the sea, I didn't quite make it.

With this one the capture was done after first light but before sunrise proper, causing the sky to be undecided about whether it wanted to be blue or red and settling on a rather muddyish colour instead.
