In the documentary series The Genius of Photography one of the photographers interviewed made a point that it's sometimes easy to forget; that one of our roles as photographers is (or should be) to be storytellers. It's something that is sometimes forgotten in a quest for photographically appealing images, but I've been trying to remind myself of it a little more. My own limitation is that I seldom like shooting people for fear of invading their privacy, though I'll do it occasionally; today's PAD, for example, is a candid shot of a person.
There's a story here, but not much of a one. As I was doing my own shooting I noticed a crowd of people on the headland opposite me. Closer inspection also showed the presence of professional quality lighting equipment. I have no idea what they were shooting up there, but shooting they were... and up there, exposed to the winds, they were probably even colder than I was.
