The cruise ship Volendam (Netherlands registered, 61,214 tons, 781 feet, 1432 passengers plus 615 crew) makes an early morning visit to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. She's assisted by one of the Sydney Ports Corporation's two emergency response tugs, the Ted Noffs. The tug is slightly outside the warm morning sun, being shadowed by the sails of the Opera House.
(The tugs are used for fire-fighting, oil spill response, salvage and vessel assistance.)
The First Fleet ferry Friendship, however, is in full sun as she passes the incoming Volendam.
Edit, December 2022: Despite the pandemic, it appears that Volendam survived and is still cruising, though the bookings page shows that she won't return to Sydney until a 58 day Grand Australia and New Zealand voyage departing San Diego on 3 January 2024. The minimum price for which is, hold your breath, $AUD17,299 for an inner cabin.
