Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, Victoria

A close up view of a building from a model Tudor village donated to the city of Melbourne by the good folk of Lambeth England. It was in appreciation of the gifts of food that Victoria dispatched during the food shortages following World War II.

The village is closed off; you can only see it over a garden fence, which in this case I've shot through the bars of. This is presumably because it would be totalled by prying little fingers if people were allowed to get up close to it.

It's certainly something of an oddity and an anachronism, and I mean that in a literal rather than pejorative way. It's definitely something from another time, but something which clearly meant something to the people (both the givers and receivers, I think) of that time.
