This Kentucky Longrifle is a modern reproduction, crafted by skilled artisan M. Osburnsen.
Originals were made in Pennslyvania during the late 1700s and early 1800s by gunmakers of German descent. The rifle was commonly used by American pioneers for hunting and protection.
It was made famous in various Indian fights and in the Revolutionary War by pioneers who were skilled at sharp-shooting with such accurate rifled-barrel guns, out-shooting smoothbore muskets commonly issued to American and British military.
This .45 caliber rifle has a 36" barrel, curly maple stock, brass furntiure, and is of the Bedford County style. it has a unique double set trigger, which allows the rear trigger to set a very light hair-trigger for the front trigger for improved accuracy.
