Piazza San Marco

Viewing in 'Original' size recommended.

Another record from 1973. For the fashion junkies, here's some ideas for the 2009 season.

The Basilica of San Marco (center background left image) overlooks a beautiful
square - the Piazza (St. Mark's Square) - a marvel in marble. Adjoining the
Basilica is the Doge's Palace - to the right in the left image. Beyond is the
water, and a hundred or so gondolas waiting for a friendly tourist.

Considered by most as the premier tourist attraction in Venice (which
doesn't mean it is the nicest), it also has its share of feathered friends.
I have often wondered why a bird so maligned at home is such an
attraction when we carry a passport.

Nikon F2 with 24mm f2, and Agfa CN17.
Successive full frame images, without crops or processing. full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is definitely Venezia, not Vegas. I was there in August 1993 and the ambiance of the Piazza left a deep scratch in my eyes that I keep itching to return.

Isn't that somewhere in Las Vegas?! :)
Nice one! V

Love it! Also love her pants... Colin, high rise is actually THIS season... but sorry, only for ladies.
Now... when I was there, these pigeons where like out of Hitchcok's The Birds... quite ferocious to be honest... did they change with time????? We all do I guess...
Ah! VOTED

You draw us in with both your words and your images, Colin. This doublet works so well because you give us both micro and macro, the scene and the intimate family group. Perfectly coupled.

Superb!! This one might be my favorite doublet of the group. Excellent work of course!
