Macedonia

Viewing in 'Original' size recommended.

After an 'eventful' drive through the then Yugoslavia, and a one hour wrong turn
into mountainous back woods Albania, we had scurried into Greece. Happily it was Yassou! Welcome!
A 'Zorba' at every turn. Situated near mythical Mt Olympus, Platamonos has been settled since 100BC or
earlier. Nearby was the impressive Castle of Platamonos - built by Crusaders after the end of the
4th Crusade (1204-1222). And, all of this transpired under the shadow of Mt. Olympus - where Homer has
written that Zeus fought Cronos and the Titans.

What a treat to relax among new friends including a Taverna owner (right), to share their Retsina, and to eat
their olives and stuffed vine leaves. And above all, to wait hungrily for those little fisher-boats to 'put-put'
back to the beach and unload a cornucopia of fresh seafood offered up by that wine-dark Aegean Sea. ! ευχαριστώ φίλοι !

Again, a doublet of successive frames in troublesome Agfa CN17, with the authentic patina of age (thanks Naomi).

Nikon F2, 50mm Nikkor, and Agfa CN17 full exif

An incredible doublet with two amazing scenes ! At right, the Platamonas beach,
where everything testifies that we are at the early seventies;an image of Greece
that I remember as a child. It was a difficult period of time for the country
under the military junta. And then at right a blast from the past ! An image
that should belong to the 50's at least !!! Amazing !
"Yassou Kolin " ! Thank you for the memories ! I'm glad you had a good time !
