Here, although the subject still wears a well worn winter coat, I saw a chance
to shoot from the most shaded side of this plant, and gain an effect of contre-jour
with the added benefits of smooth tonal gradations (all these leaves are one color),
and importantly, the possibility of highlighting the edges (and getting some light
through the insect 'bites'). The blown-out background is always a possibility in this
method, although I could crop this print somewhat (which you see here in full frame).

Exposed at EI80. Developed in Ilford DD-X 1:4 for 9'45" @ 20c. No filter used. full exif
