The First Antarctic Sunset

Antarctic Peninsula

Only a handful of people braved the cold and strong wind on deck for the sunset. Thick sweater, parka, ear muffs, thick gloves helped but it was cold nonetheless. Maybe the temperature was around freezing only at that time but the windchill factor made it feel like well below.... The wind made it also difficult to steady the camera. But the reward is great. I have not seen this colorful sunset in my life. When the sun was low enough, it literally gave the layer of "mist" in front of the land such a glow... This image doesn't do this sunset justice and I am working on a panoramic shot that would show the condition better but still.... You have to actually see it to realize the beauty.
