Kerak Telor

Bogor, Indonesia

Kerak refers to "crust of cocked rice" while telor means eggs. This layer of kerak consists of eggs, spices and obviously red chilis cocked inside a small wok over a small coal oven. When stiff and sticky enough, the wok is flipped upside down to cock the other side. When done, the kerak is removed, more spices are added, including grated coconut, to the inside the "bowl" and it is ready for your enjoyment. Please, take a look at the following image.
