Juvenile because...sits on branch where prey was, expecting it to return

Coyote Bend

I was about to leave, having watched quail long enough.
I put away the mic, turned, and saw a flash as 2 juvenile
hawks landed in a tree about 5 trees down from mine. I
froze, switched the camera to "C3" (my BIF setting), and
switched the lens to "3m-10m" focus range. I eased down to a
crouch. On the way down, one of the hawks saw me and exited
stage left. I think they're supposed to hunt together, as in,
coordinated. The hawk that didn't bolt soon dove for the quail
60yds away. The lens, still in 3m-10m range, didn't work well
on the flight scene that ensued. The hawk missed all the quail
and came to rest on a dead tree (I meant to remove because it
was messing w my "watering hole" pics).

Lesson: 1) don't leave early and 2) don't mess w the scene.
