Dec 27 Earthquake

Dec 26 (the 2nd anniversary of the tsunami that killed 200,000 people) we had a 7.1 earthquake here in Hengchun. Several buildings fell, one trapping a family of 8. 2 people were killed, including one of our church members, a young mother. She was found covering her 7 year old twins. Her two children survived, though one will lose his leg. We had one aftershock of 7.0 and continue to have aftershocks around 5.0. Our house is a mess, but no obvious structural damage. All of our neighbors slept outside last night. Everyone is full of fear.
Will have more pictures later.

OH my goodness, we heard nothing about this on the news in USA of course. How dreadful for the people whose lives have been disrupted by this. I am pleased to know that you and your family are all OK, and will remember your part of the world in my prayers. It is always so difficult to know whether to take photos at a time like this, but I am sure people will be glad of your excellent images at a later date. Best wishes. Tricia
