I am not sure what species of snake this is but based on what I can see of the head and eye I doubt it is poisonous. Really a great capture with exceptional clarity and detail. We have a significant number of snakes here in Virginia with some poisonous but most are not. I have had a number of close encounters with poisonous snakes but being lucky, careful and watchful has prevented me from getting bitten. Looks like the snake was enjoying the warm sun. VV
