This picture reminded me about a story my grandma(Jun.1916-Apr.1994) had shared about the cave they hid in up above the Whispering Palms Golf Course area. Luckily some local men who had crawled into their cave the night before after an unsuccessful night of looking for water and food had overheard some Japanese soldiers talkin about how unsafe it was to hide in caves because the Americans had a new weapon which threw flames over 100 ft. They moved and luckily encountered a japanese soldier who took pity on them and gave them a white cloth and told them to raise it up when they see the Americans coming.
