+ We got to our hotel at about 7pm on September 26 after about 25 hours of travelling from the time we left home. We drove to Newark, left our car at the Marriott Courtyard and flew from EWR to LHR and then from LHR to PRA via British Airways. We took a nap and then went to a nearby pub for dinner. We enjoyed our first taste of one of the famous and very popular Prague beers there: Pilsner Urquell.

On Tuesday September 27 we began exploring Prague. We took a tram to the subway and got off in Old Town. It was an unseasonably hot day so we didn't want to do much walking. We walked through very crowded Old Town Square and saw the Old Town Hall with its Astronomical Clock which is a post WW2 reconstruction of the original clock made in the 14th century. We enjoyed getting our first taste of this wonderful city which has become a significant tourist destination in recent years.

After a nap when it was late afternoon, we headed for Petrin Hill. We saw the Memorial for the Victims of Communism and then took the funicular up to the Petrin tower which resembles the Eifel Tower and was built soon after. We were treated to the sunset just as we reached the top of the tower. We enjoyed some great views of the city. After that we took a tram to Lesser town Square where we had a delicious dinner. When we needed to transfer from one tram to another we got to walk out on a bridge and see a spectacular night time view of the castle and the river.
