+ On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, we left Galway and headed North. We enjoyed high tea in the morning at the Westport House > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westport_House. We enjoyed touring the house and the gardens. The powerful "Pirate Queen" lived in these parts in the 16th century and there are two statues honoring her, one inside the house and one outside.

We went to Knock in the afternoon where we visited the Knock Shrine. The villagers of Knock saw an apparition of Mary, the mother of Jesus, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist on August 21, 1879. The Roman Catholic Church has concluded that this really did happen > https://www.knockshrine.ie/.

That evening we rode out to the Mullaghmore Peninsula > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullaghmore_Peninsula. We stopped at a viewpoint along the coast where we could see the Classiebawn Castle > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classiebawn_Castle. Then we enjoyed a dinner at Harrison's Bar and Restaurant in Cliffoney.
