It is a feature of Thai culture that pets that have become too bothersome for their owners are given to the Wat, where they are cared for (well, the monks can't refuse!). Usually, this involves cats & dogs. However, this stallion's owner found him impossible to ride and therefore, he too ended up at the Wat.
