This long section was bent, but it now looks great and straight https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/164034208

All of this careful and tedious work that's being done is required to insure that the part is back to the factory original intended shape---it does take time, and money. The crappier the part is when we get started https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/163624823 (rusted, etc.), the more time and effort we'll have to pour into it to make it right.

In order to bend the lip around the new large opening, we first have to cut the entire engine lid frame https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/164034195section in two sections; Section #1 https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/164034208 and Section #2 https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/164051884. After that, each section of the 914 engine bay lid each receiving a lot of attention, every single inch. When the parts are finished, in one word, they're simply 'flawless'.
