The 6-Pin BOSCH Rev-Limiters are a programmable device designed to be used in 4/6/8 cylinder competition engine applications--they are a race part, not used in street applications https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/166953483. These units have a built-in adjustable 'Pot" https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/166953471 which allows the user to set a 'cut-off' point to the coil in the ignition at a specified RPM thus protecting the engine from over-revving. I believe that the 6-Pin BOSCH units were the predecessors to the later 73' and 74' Porsche 911 RSR BOSCH 8-Pin Programmable Rev. Limiters. Additionally, the 6-Pin BOSCH Rev-Limiter box may have been first produced for the MY 71-72 Porsche race cars and possibly for the 911 ST MFI competition engines. Regardless, it is a welcome addition to any high-strung, twin-ignition and very expensive today vintage race motor.
