Whitey's (18M3) - I was his first handler. I trained him at Lackland beginning in June of 1968. We were stationed state-side at Beale AFB in California for about 6 momths until we were sent to Utapao AB Thailand in February 1969. My tour ended in February 1970. We were together for almost 2 years. Looks like Whitey stayed on for several more tours. Leaving him was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.
I am trying to find out what happened to him. I think he died in 1975, but I am not sure. If anyone knows, especially you guys that handled him later, please let me know.
