While in the northeast, American Robins get much of the credit for being Harbingers of Spring, the stats are showing that more and more of them are overwintering here anyway. In my view, the call of the male Red-winged Blackbird throughout the wetlands is the TRUE signal that winter's long grip is about to slip away.
