One of the volunteers was placing grapes on some of the thorny bushes. The Trogan was attracted to the grapes. We can all be bribed. What is the new art eibit in Central Park doing to your birding? We were in the high 80s today. I spent the weekend on a large ranch about 70 miles north of McAllen. The woods were full of cardinals but no Green Jays. Cardinal photo here: I saw a Great Blue Heron but have not had time to process. Derald

Hi, Derald. Funny you should mention the Frontera. We got there just at closing. We were hoping to see Red-crowned and Green Parakeets there. We later saw the Red-crowneds in another area of Weslaco. As for the Adirondacks... That is one of our all-time favorite places. We have been to the Long Lake and Lake Placid areas many times. Friends of mine just did a trip there and were happy to see crossbills. They later drove another 2 1/2 hours to Montreal and saw nine, yes nine, Great Gray Owls! Thanks again for the use of your work. By the way, what is in the trogon's bill? Now that's a bird I'd love to see.

Arleen. You have a great web site. I really enjoyed your trip report. The layout and the narrative went together nicely. While I live in the Rio Grande Valley, I am embarassed to admit that I have not been to some of the local places that you visited. I did go to the Frontera Audubon center in Weslaco Saturday and got a picture of an Elegant Trogan. Rare even here. Paste this url:The photo was at a high ISO and not one of my best. My wife and I will spend the last two weeks of August in the Adirondacks. I want to get a good bald eagle photo. Thanks for including my photos in your trip report.
