Moloka'i is one of the major Hawaiian Islands, but with a population of approximately 5000 people, it is definitely NOT one of the busiest places on earth.
The island does have an airport, but many of the residents use the ferry between Kaunakakai and Lahaina to get to their jobs on Maui. Now, taking the ferry doesn't sound like a bad idea, until you actually hit the rough water in the open ocean channel.
Fortunately, I spent several of my early years on boats. Not saying I have great sea legs, but I do well with motion sickness, apparently not true for many of the passengers on board... think about the pie eating contest in "Stand By Me" and you will get the idea.
But I digress. Moloka'i is a beautiful island, but it is definitely NOT a place looking for outrageous fun and excitement. I am glad I made the trip, but I am doubtful I will make the trip back anytime soon.
