Guessing Game

September 14

Pegram, TN

Today I wanted to do two things...

1. Try out the flatbed scanner method of capturing florals
(definitely the largest sensor in my arsenal). Credit Rene
Hales for my curiosity ( http://www.pbase.com/halesr ).

2. See how many people recognize this common vine in bloom.
So, that is the game part. WHAT IS THIS VINE?
Answer: KUDZU :(

Wow! Kudzu...you don't hear about that stuff nearly as much as you used to (during the Carter administration is when I remember hearing about it - oops, I gave away my age!)
Nice shot. The blooms resemble pinkish upside down wysteria. Is it about the same size?

Nice idea, you've got some good depth into the shot and it doesn't look too flat, as for the vine ???
Johnny JAG15-Sep-2005 19:24
It isn't common in our garden! But it is a great picture.

Where is the aswer?

Nice idea, great capture, I know nothing about American Flora but I guess that Buz knows what he is talking about so I will go with Kudzu, if that is a plant.

Very nice photograph Scott. However, being the fine gardener that I am (NOT)...I don't have a clue! It is lovely though!

Well, first of all Scott, superb presentation. Vote.
I don't know a thing about the vine however.

I'm not sure, but I think it is a hyacinth bean. Lovely photo. Love the black background.

Stunning shot Scott!! Love the colors and comp against the blackness! I'm flower-identification 'illiterate', so... ?! Vote!

No W. The vine is a climber. The blooms do turn up.
Buz Kiefer14-Sep-2005 16:00
Kudzu and a really fine photo. Good lighting, Scott.

is it growing upside down? or does it begin with a "w"?
