Grounded

July 16

Al & Marsha's Farm

Everything in life is a big learning process. In that process we experience ups and downs, cycles, waves, valleys and peaks. The past week seemed to me to be somewhat of a valley, not all bleak just challenging. It did not take long to become grounded to reality and the relative small things that were clouding my perspective. It was through comments, phone calls, emails and God's hand in the beauty of creation that the world became reframed and the peace and majesty returned Friday evening.

To me photography is a healing tool. It allows me to look at the world differently. It challenges me to attempt to communicate visually to others. It forces me to slow down, breath deeply and often wait for perfect moments. It taps that creative vein that I believe is a direct connection to God.

Thank you as always for your sharing, comments, encouragement and images of your places in this world.

Funny how things come into one's life just when it's needed. I came upon this picture for the 1st time and it was perfect timing. God was a part of that I can promise!

Scott,
I looked at this photo and am reminded of how very blessed I am. Even though this little girl ours and this is where we live, somehow seeing it throught the eyes of your lenses is a fresh look at the awesome creations of God that surround me each day. Little "Rosie" and the thousand other little miracles we see each day are constant reminders of God's faithfulness and his incredible love for us. Thanks, Marsha

nicely stated I was thinking today about what a blessing it is in thsi world to have just one orginal idea ..some of us may go through life without ever having such a thing , but throught the creative medium we can co conspire with God to create unique and one of a kind images , phrases , lyrics , paintings sculpture ect..thanks for this ...Kenn

Scott: Beautiful shot, and great thoughts...Excellent photography IS a gift...Anyone can hold a camera and push a button..That "unexplainable" magic that happens to some photographers truly does come from somewhere else. If we truly seek the "gift" in our art, we have to be ready to take our hands off of the wheel, ALWAYS give credit where it belongs, and accept the fact that WE aren't really doing anything. We don't create light, Canon does not create light. A line from one of my favorite films "Never Cry Wolf"
( a stunning film that everyone who loves nature NEEDS to see)
"... I think over my small adventures. My fears. Those small ones that seemed so big...
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach. And yet there is only one great thing.
The only thing; To live to see the great day that dawns, and the light that fills the world...."

Scott,
Beautiful, sensitive shot. I also find photography as a time to reflect upon God's beauty and kind of chill out and relax. Sometimes the busyness of life clouds our perspective but He is always faithful to pull us back when we ask.

I think "the learning curver" is really what this photo is all about. Nice shot.

With less than a month to go on my PAD. I find myself wondering what
I'd do if I didn't have photos and comments like yours to look forward to each day.
Nice moment you've captured both in photo and word.

Nice photo of this little miracle. I believe that a lot of us on PaD find solace and peace in our photography and sometimes, many times, it is an escape from the daily unpleasantries of life.
