Cichorium intybus

June 17

Roadside in Kingston Springs, TN

Chicory is a deeply taprooted perennial with powdery blue (almost glowing in most backgrounds) blooms. An Eurasian introduction found throughout Tennessee and the eastern US along roadsides and disturbed areas. You have heard of Chicory coffee... the root is used to brew this coffee in many countries.

Scott,
This is gorgeous! Of course I just love the color but also the thin DOF with the areas of sharpness... excellent! Nice lighting too.
