Silene virginica

April 21

Fire Pinks are a common short-lived erect perennial found throughout the state of Tennessee. The flowers have five red narrow petals (notched at the end) surround the yellow stamens extending from the center. Most I have seen are about 12" tall but occasionally reach 30".
