Swept Away II

South Cheatham County

Big thanks to Shellie for loaning me her mobile hot spot to upload some images of the after shock from the flooding.

This is where the river topped a bluff (about 35' above normal stage) and took a shortcut bypassing 3 miles of the normal river. It completely demolished (nothing but some block left) 4 homes and moved 3 more along with flooding many more. At the time I shot this the river had dropped about 8-10 feet. It pushed all of the 10-12" asphalt and concrete 20-80 yards away in sheets as large as 40'x60'.

The forces of nature always humble the mighty when confronted head on. This was the most humbling thing I've yet experienced. We are all helping each other through this.

I have dedicated a gallery to scenes from the aftermath of the 2010 1000 year flood...

I won't have internet access until at least 5/11 unless the phone company surprises us or I can work out something with my wireless provider.
