Niklaus Thut Fountain is located in the heart of the old town center of Zofingen at Niklaus Thut Square. The stone water trough is octagonal and has a painted pillar in the middle which the Statue of Niklaus Thut atop. Niklaus Thut is the city-hero of Zofingen, he fell in the Battle of Sempach in 1386.
The fountain was donated to the city in 1893 by the fraternity Zofingia on occasion of their 75th anniversary. The fountain is probably one of the youngest with a standard bearer figure, in the 16th century they were widespread.
