Although an earlier plan to use timber lining up to a dado line has been
abandoned on account of cost, we still had a problem with the lining of
the stairwell. The wall on one side is two stories high, and the "joint"
between the upstairs wall and the downstairs wall seemed sure to make
ripples in the plaster. The solution was to revert to vertical lining
boards for the stairwell only. Metho (carpenter) has done a fantastic
job. We are rapt with it. (Sunday 20-02-2005)
